Camp Update – Back to the Future

July 16, 2009

Our theme this week is “Back to the Future” and we are looking at each of the decades from the 50s to the present and the impact it had on American spiritual culture.   This is presented in the general sessions each day.   Then in our Conversation Groups, we look at a passage of scripture that turns our attention to the real answer – how a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has been and continues to be the only answer  to real lasting peace,  joy and security in a changing world.  Today, we look at the 80s.

PRAISE:

  1.  That little baby Simon Zytka has behaved so well as to free  mom, Amy, to be involved in the teaching and his father, Greg, to be free to be one of a translators.
  2. That we are continuing to see great strides in connecting with our Polish students.
  3. Yesterday (Wednesday in Poland) it rained causing us to make some major adjustments in the children and teen groups.  We praise God that all these adjustments went well with no major difficulties.

PRAY:

  1.  Pray that little Simon will stay healthy.  He is crawling all over and getting quite dirty.  Pray that he will not pick up something that will cause him to become ill.
  2. Pray that the students will make good headway as we teach English grammar and vocabulary.  While we are here to point them to Christ in their spiritual journey, as a matter of integrity, we want them to see that they made good progress in learning English.
  3. Pray for a couple of boys who struggle because they have no father.    Pray as our team member shares the promise that God will be a father to the fatherless.
  4. Pray wisdom as our American team members, who have built relationships over the past few days, as they continue to focus on spiritual things.  Pray that these last few days will be filled with “picking the fruit” of seeds that have been planted.

We praise all of you who are doing kingdom work in Poland. You are doing gereat honor to our Lord Jesus as you spread the message of love, compassion and humility that He came to deliver. Continue to gather your strength from Jesus alone.

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.”- Colossians 2:9-10

God speaks to you through Joshua – 6 “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
